YOUNG Champions award winner Radomir Stamatov got the best grades he could have hoped for - and received a special surprise when he went to pick his results up.
The 18-year-old maths whiz picked up the Student of the Year award earlier this year as he hosted regular out-of-hours sessions for his fellow students to help them achieve their desired grades.
This all came from his personal love of maths, which will only expand as he heads off to Oxford next month, after bagging an A* in French, an A* in maths and an A in further maths.
He told the Chronicle: “It’s all gone really well, I got my firm choice so that’s the important thing.
“I want to do something in education - teaching, promoting maths and everything that comes alongside it.
“I’ll use some of the resources I made to help students at college when I hopefully get to teach.”
When the youngster arrived at college yesterday morning, he received a special surprise as staff informed him that Oxford had decided to take him on, no matter what his grades were.
“I didn’t know anything about it,” he added.
“I was happy - getting in was the important thing so that’s what made me the happiest.
“It’s all gone so quickly but to have this at the end, that’s the best way it could end.”
