I WANTED to take this opportunity to introduce and update people on Barnsley FC’s charity arm.
Barnsley FC Community Trust is a registered charity dedicated to making a positive impact across our community.
As the charitable arm of Barnsley FC, we work tirelessly to deliver charitable and community activities across all areas of the borough.
Our reach is extensive, engaging between 10,000 and 15,000 beneficiaries each season, spanning an age range from two to more than 100 years old.
At Barnsley FC Community Trust, we believe in the power of sport, and community to transform lives.
Through our focused delivery in key areas such as health and wellbeing, education and employability, inclusion and participation, we strive to make a tangible difference in the lives of individuals and the community as a whole.
In the previous season alone, we delivered more than £7.75 million in social value, demonstrating our commitment to creating a stronger, healthier, and more inclusive community. Our mission at Barnsley FC Community Trust is to use the power of Barnsley Football Club to inspire, improve and positively change lives in our community.
In the upcoming months we have some fantastic provision available for people of all ages to engage in, including our ever popular Kellogg’s Football Camps, holiday activity programmes, Fit Reds, our social isolation programme, matchday activations and education programmes.
In addition, we are expanding our services by successfully securing several grants.
These initiatives will leverage the influence of sport and the Barnsley FC brand to raise awareness about cancer, promote early diagnosis and treatments; provide support to families through a pre and postnatal programme aimed at enhancing health, well-being, and physical activity; creating opportunities for engagement in football and physical activities for people with visual impairments; as well as facilitating mental health support in safe environments.
We are based at Oakwell, the home of Barnsley FC, and would encourage residents and businesses to reach out to us to see how they can get involved either through participating in activities, supporting the charity, volunteering or joining our workforce.
People can do this via community@barnsleyfc.co.uk or by calling 01226 211333.
Thank you for reading. Kieron Campbell, head of foundation.
