BARNSLEY Woolley Miners will look for a third straight league win on Saturday before a cup quarter-final against neighbours Cawthorne on Sunday.
The Shaw Laners recorded a second successive win and moved out of the relegation zone, replaced by beaten hosts Treeton.
They now take on another bottom half side in Shiregreen before hosting Cawthorne in the quarter-finals of the K3 Dental Cup.
Captain Liam Johnson said: “We identified this run of three games as key.
“If we lost them, we would have been dead and buried. But we’ve won the first two which we’re delighted about.
“The job is not done at all but it’s great to see confidence back in the team and a feelgood factor around the place. The lads are expressing themselves.
“It feels like we’ve turned the corner a little bit and, with a couple more wins, we can be looking up the table and not down.
“This weekend is a chance for us to carry on the momentum we have been building. We want another league win against Shiregreen then the Cawthorne game is a chance to put right the hiding they gave us to in the league earlier in the season.
“We want to win every cup we enter and we can beat anyone on our day.
“It’s an opportunity to get some silverware and, in a season that has not gone to plan, winning a cup would put it all right.”
The Shaw Laners chased 226 at Treeton with eight wickets and more than 17 overs left.
Owen Smith hit 83 off 60 balls with 11 fours and three sixes then Sheryaar Ali made 71 not out off 66. Adam Copley had taken three wickets.
Johnson said: “We were brilliant from start to finish. It’s a small ground, it was a flat wicket and they have good players so to restrict them to 220-odd, we were happy with that.
“I don’t think any of us expected that batting performance.
“We have moved Smithy up the order for how positive he is and he sent shockwaves through their team. He took on the openers and it was a superb performance which broke the back of the target in ten overs.
“Sheryaar didn’t put a foot wrong in a classy knock.
“Jacob Cumming and Boeta Beukes batted well too.”
