DARRELL Clarke’s Barnsley side will travel to Wigan Athletic in the Carabao Cup first round.

The game will be played in midweek after Barnsley’s first league match of the season against Mansfield on August 9.

Neill Collins’ Reds were knocked out by League Two Tranmere Rovers last season.

They twice came back from behind, with goals from Herbie Kane and a 98th minute Aiden Marsh equaliser, but lost on penalties.

Barnsley will find out their final group opponents for the 2024/25 Bristol Street Motors Trophy competition later this afternoon.

They are in Group F along with Huddersfield Town and Doncaster Rovers, though a fourth u21 team will join them.
