ONE of the most important choral conductors in the country is set to work with Barnsley Youth Choir this weekend.
Harry Christophers is regarded as one of the best in the business and he’s been lured to the town to work with the world-renowned choir.
Along with eight members of The Genesis Sixteen ensemble - who have been described as some of the ‘best singers in the world’ - Harry will work with the senior choir today and tomorrow.
There will also be a sharing event on Sunday for parents and invited guests to see the work that has taken place over the weekend.
Mat Wright, artistic director of the youth choir, said: “It’s such an honour to welcome him to Barnsley.
“He is very much seen by people across the world as someone who is at the very top of pedagogical craft, and our young people will be so inspired to work with him and learn from him.
“The Genesis Sixteen are one of the most famous groups in the world, and it’s such an incredible and extraordinary opportunity for young people in Barnsley to learn from the very best.
“Whilst the focus of the weekend is to provide a fantastic development experience for singers in the senior choir, there will also be a sharing event on Sunday for parents and invited guests to see the work that has taken place during the weekend.”
