PENISTONE man Lachlan Moorhead was beaten in the second round of the World Judo Championships in Abu Dhabi.

Competing in the 81kg category on Tuesday, Lachlan beat Alain Aprahamian, from Uruguay, in the first round then lost to Russian David Karapetyan in his second contest.

It was the final qualifying event for Paris Olympics later this year.

It is currently unclear whether Commonwealth Games champion Lachlan, 24, has reached Paris, and it is dependent on results in other categories and the world rankings.
