A DARTON dog owner was handed an early birthday present after claiming a prestigious ‘Best of Breed’ crown at Crufts.
Jenny Shorer-Wheeler has been entering her beloved pets into shows for the last 25 years.
Her Norwegian Buhund, Muchly, has been winning awards for the last two-and-a-half years - and he wowed judges at the NEC in Birmingham to win the accolade last week.
The duo qualified for the ‘Best in Group’ showcase on the famous green carpet but were unable to go all the way and book their place in Sunday night’s finale.
But Jenny, who celebrated her 42nd birthday yesterday, said she was still happy with the win.
“I’ve been doing shows for about 25 years now,” she said.
“Muchly managed to be named the Best in Breed for Norwegian Buhunds.
“It was really lovely and we were so pleased.
“We managed to get down to the last nine on the carpet but just fell short.”
