BARNSLEY’S latest addition to the Glass Works officially opened its doors to punters on Monday.
The Botanist, which is based in the Glass Works’ public square, is set to bring around 60 jobs to the town.
Coun Robert Frost, cabinet spokesperson for regeneration and culture said: “Last year was fantastic for Barnsley town centre.
“We welcomed an impressive 5.5 million visitors and saw Cineworld open alongside many new shops, restaurants and cafés.
“The culture of the town centre has really changed.
“More people are coming into town and, crucially, spending a longer period of time here, which helps support our fantastic mix of businesses.
“There’s a real sense of pride building.
“Leasing continues to be strong and we’re attracting some of the biggest national and regional names.
“The Botanist is another brand of renowned excellence and expands our thriving food and drink scene even further.”
