A LOCAL organisation which provides free therapy services to children who have experienced traumatic events have embarked on a fundraising mission.
Equipt Therapeutic Services, based at Churchfield Court in the town centre, is run by a group of people who take part in fundraising events to help families pay for their child to attend long-term therapy.
Sandra Georgeson, managing director, is hopeful the community will come together in a bid to support the team who help children following a traumatic event, causing a negative impact on their mental health and wellbeing.
The team will be completing a three-hour-long Zumbathon - an extended length event - at Penistone Leisure Centre next Friday to raise money which will allow them to fund fully qualified therapists to work with families who don’t meet the funding criteria.
So far, £155 of a £500 goal has been raised.
Sandra told the Chronicle: “So many businesses have supported us since we started our journey on helping children receive access to therapy.
“We hope to keep helping these children and giving them the chance to live a better life, because that’s what they deserve.
“Help should be accessible to anyone that needs it, no parent should ever have to worry that they can’t afford therapy for their child.”
