TWO Barnsley MPs have recently announced the winners of their annual Christmas card competitions.
MPs for Barnsley East and Penistone and Stocksbridge each ran a competition open to primary school pupils in their constituencies.
The winners of both competitions will see their designs featured on the fronts of the MPs’ Christmas cards which will be sent to community groups, local businesses and schools in each constituency, while runner up designs will be printed on the back.
Labour MP for Barnsley East Stephanie Peacock said it was a ‘pleasure’ to present the winning prize to her competition at a school in Hoyland last week.
Ms Peacock plans to visit schools across the constituency that took part in the competition over the run up to Christmas.
Earlier this month, Penistone and Stocksbridge MP Miriam Cates invited the winner and runners up of her competition to her constituency office where they were joined by Sheffield-born artist Lorna May Wadsworth via video call, who judged the competition alongside the Tory MP.
Ms Wadsworth grew up in Grenoside which now forms part of Ms Cates’ constituency.
