A BARNSLEY Town Centre Pub has been recognised for serving one of the best pints in the UK.

The Silkstone Inn, a Wetherspoon pub on Market Street, has been acclaimed for the quality of its real ale and will be listed in the CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide 2019.

Judges travelled to The Silkstone Inn on numerous occasions to check on the quality of its real ales.

Not only did they rate the beer but they also took into account customer service, how the pub was furnished and the overall atmosphere.

A CAMRA spokesperson said: “The Silkstone Inn deserves its place in the ‘Good Beer Guide 2019’.

“It is our belief that if a licensee serves an excellent pint of real ale, then everything else in the pub, including customer service, quality of the food and atmosphere, are likely to be of an equally high standard.”

Manager of The Silkstone Inn, Simon Barker, said: “I am delighted that The Silkstone Inn has been recognised for the quality of its real ales by CAMRA members.

“We offer our customers an excellent range of real ales at all times, including those from regional brewers and micro-brewers, as well as hosting our own beer festivals.

“Staff at the pub work hard to ensure that the real ales on offer are kept in first-class condition at all times and the pub’s inclusion in the guide highlights this.”
