Astrea Academy Trust, which runs the Dove Valley Way school, has appointed Angela Wells to take over from January.

Angela is joining Netherwood from the Buckingham School, where she has been headteacher since 2008.

Under her leadership, Buckingham went from a school in special measures to one now rated 'good' under Ofsted - with a set of exceptional exam results to match.

Astrea hope she will continue her success streak with Netherwood, which was in the UK's bottom three per cent at the time of Astrea's takeover in May.

Angela said: "I am very excited to be joining Netherwood at this time as I see great potential for the academy to be a real success.

"Having met with both staff and students in July, I look forward building upon the good work already undertaken to ensure that every student is able to be successful in their chosen career pathway."

Andy Redfern will continue as interim principal at the school for the autumn term.
