THREE original exhibitions unlocking the hidden stories of Egypt’s captivating past have been designed and curated for the town by Egyptologist Joann Fletcher.
The Barnsley-born expert has teamed up with Barnsley Museums to celebrate the history of ancient Egypt this autumn, with three of its venues playing host to exhibitions she has created.
A world authority on ancient Egypt from its pharaohs to mummification Joann has published nine books and made numerous television appearances. In 2012 she won a BAFTA and most recently wrote and presented the ‘Immortal Egypt with Joann Fletcher’ series on BBC Two.
She said: “As a huge supporter of my home town Barnsley, I’m delighted to be able to bring these exhibitions together for the very first time at three such fantastic venues.”
