RUNNERS in Locke Park can exercise to their heart’s content thanks to a new defibrillator unit.
The defib unit, on the wall of the Locke Park Cafe, can be accessed by anyone who calls the emergency services and needs to use it in the case of a cardiac arrest.
And it even talks users through the process, making sure everyone stands a chance at getting the extra help which could potentially save someone’s life.
The unit was paid for by Silkstone-based pharmaceutical firm Perrigo as part of its charitable arm, The Perrigo Foundation.
Park Run organiser Alan Mills said the unit is essential as more and more people join the weekly 5K runs.
