A BARNSLEY family have been left with nothing to sit on on Christmas Day after furniture firm Harvey’s failed to deliver their new sofa on time - telling them it was ‘stranded at sea’.
Joanne Allsopp, 33, of Darfield, bought her £1,500 sofa from the Stairfoot branch on November 7 and was told it would delivered on November 30.
Joanne told the Chronicle she only ordered the sofa after being guaranteed that it was in stock and would be delivered in time for Christmas.
However, it didn’t turned up as promised and since then she has been given a string of ‘poor excuses’ by Harvey’s - including that it was ‘stuck on a boat at sea’.
A spokesman for Harvey’s Furniture said: “We’re very sorry about the delays with delivery and are currently liaising directly with Ms Allsopp so that the matter is rectified as soon as possible.
“We are also reviewing the responses initially given to Ms Allsopp - this is something we take very seriously and the matter is undergoing an internal investigation.”
