THE BOSS of Yorkshire Wildlife Trust visited Barnsley this week to help launch a new partnership with the council which will see the trust manage some of the borough’s flagship countryside sites.

Chief executive of the trust, Rob Stoneman, toured some of the parks it will now manage in partnership with the council, which includes sites such as Dearne Valley Country Park, Carlton Marsh, Barnsley Main and Littleworth Park.

Mr Stoneman said: “We’re delighted to be working together with Barnsley Council to further develop these sites. There are some really exciting opportunities for local people to get involved in and we’re encouraging as many people as possible to join in and discover the wildlife right on their doorstep.”

It will work with local communities to enhance wildlife and inspire people to ‘reconnect with nature’.
