WORK has started building Barnsley’s temporary May Day Green market.
The temporary structure which is being created initially off-site, will eventually house traders while the Metropolitan Centre is refurbished, a key feature of the £50m Better Barnsley regeneration scheme.
One of the stages of the re-development is the demolition of the existing multi-storey car park, which is due to start early summer.
The semi open market under the car park will be relocated temporarily in May Day Green while the demolition and subsequent construction and refurbishment works are completed.
