THIEVES broke into charity shops and local businesses last weekend in a spate of burglaries in the heart of Wombwell.
New2U, Briony’s Gift and Berry’s Laundrette on Wombwell High Street were all broken into through the roofs, with thieves causing damage to stock and furnishings in the process.
And on nearby Station Road, Radar Dog Rescue’s shop - which used to be a branch of video rental chain Blockbuster - was broken into by thieves scaling a 25ft drop at the back of the store, chiselling through two layers of brick and kicking through three locked interior doors.
The damage will cost thousands to repair - but thieves left with just £8 from Berrys, £30 in raffle money from Radar, the till float and contents of a charity box in Briony’s Gift, and the contents of the till, four ball machines and e-cigs from New2U.
