A VICAR and a pub landlord fear there will be accidents and fisticuffs in Elsecar because of a parking 'nightmare' caused by visitors flocking to weekend events at Elsecar Heritage Centre.

Rev Alison Earl of Elsecar Holy Trinity church struggles to get to and from her religious duties on Sundays because the village is choked with parked cars.

Phil Hickling, landlord of the Milton Arms on Armroyd Lane said drivers clogging up his car park were abusive when he asked them to move.

"There is no room for my customers who are coming to have Sunday lunch. It's a nightmare."

Barnsley Council said Elsecar Heritage Centre could accommodate 165 vehicles and an extra 50 on Gasworks field on Wath Road if required.
