Vintage car enthusiast Graham Wall has just spent a year restoring a rare Morris Isis car to its former glory.
Graham, 72, of Woodstock Road, Barnsley, is now polishing up the chrome to parade the motor at a show at Elsecar Heritage Centre later this year.
His Morris Isis, dating back to 1955/1956, is thought to be the oldest in the country and second oldest in the world. He bought it more than ten years ago for £200 and after doing some initial work, left it while he got on with other projects.
But now the four-door 2.5-litre beast is back to its best. It has two bench seats front and back and is a large luxury car weighing in at well over a ton. It does 27 miles to the gallon. Graham lavished more than four hours a day on the vehicle, patching up the engine, sewing up ripped seats and restoring trims - some of which he made himself as they were no longer available to buy.
"I spent more time and money on it than I care to mention and in a way I feel a bit sad it's all finished - but I do have other projects," he said.
