A KIND-HEARTED youngster from Monk Bretton who helped raise money for Barnsley Hospice has been nominated for a Young Champions award.
Myla Vivien Jobling, six, is a caring and compassionate youngster who is always doing whatever she can for those that know her.
And she put her passion of making bracelets to brilliant use last year after selling off her creations to raise money for Barnsley Hospice.
The idea came into her head after her mum, Kirsty, spoke to Myla about what the charity does.
Kirsty told the Chronicle: “She’s been on about doing something like this for a while.
“We spoke to her about what charities do and she said she wanted to do it for Barnsley Hospice.
“She absolutely loved doing it and we ended up actually running out of bracelets.
“She just wanted to do her bit for charity and she raised £258.
“She’s chuffed to bits.”
Myla sold a number of bracelets at her brother’s 18th birthday BBQ and, after Kirsty posted what she was doing on Facebook, the demand grew even further.
“She was only selling the bracelets for about 50p to £1 so you can imagine how many she had to make and sell for that,” she added.
“She did it all off her own back which was fantastic.”
Kirsty is hoping that her daughter continues her fundraising exploits in the near future.
She added: “She’s so kind.
“We get told that she’s really kind-hearted when we go to parents’ evening.
“I’m hoping she decides to do more fundraising as she gets older.”
Vicky Stead, community relationship manager at Barnsley Hospice, praised Myla for her efforts.
She added: “We were so incredibly grateful to have received £258 from Myla after her fantastic fundraising efforts.
“Everybody at Barnsley Hospice is so proud to see that Myla has been nominated for the Young Champion award and want to thank her from the bottom of our hearts for thinking of us and deciding to raise money for the hospice.
“We rely heavily on donations from supporters to keep our services running and we can’t thank her enough.”(
