Winning the remaining home games this season will be the ‘big message’ Conor Hourihane is sending his Barnsley players after their 4-1 thrashing of Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

The interim head coach recorded his first win in six attempts, while it was the Reds’ sixth league victory at Oakwell in 21 games this season.

Hourihane told the Chronicle: “It’s great but it’s a start.

“I would love to have kept a clean sheet but it’s pleasing overall. There is loads to work on.

“Hopefully we can build on it. We have a couple of big games coming up over the Easter weekend.

“We have a difficult one at Leyton Orient (on Friday) who are going well.

“Then we have another couple of home games - Peterborough and Shrewsbury – so hopefully we can build on this, particularly at home. That will be the big message from me. Not that we will take Friday lightly, we will go full throttle to try to win it. But I think wins at home are key at the moment to try to build.”
