BOOS rang around Oakwell after the full-time whistle as the Reds were beaten easily by Blackpool this afternoon.

A double from Sonny Carey either side of a goal from ex-Red Ashley Fletcher ensured Steve Bruce's side won the game 3-0.

Head coach Darrell Clarke was forced into two changes from Tuesday's 1-0 defeat away at Charlton Athletic.

Adam Phillips and Josh Earl, both injured, were replaced in the starting 11 by Connor Barratt and Max Watters.

Top-scorer Davis Keillor-Dunn played alongside Watters and Stephen Humphrys as Clarke named an attacking lineup.

Ex-Red Fletcher started the game for Blackpool, while former Shaw Lane Aquaforce man Jake Beesley was on the bench.

The game started slowly but both sides came into life in the 11th minute.

First, Humphrys found himself through in the box but his effort was well over.

The hosts struggled to create any clear-cut chances in the first half while Ennis and Sonny Carey continued to test Smith.

The Tangerines should have taken the lead in the 35th minute but Carey couldn't find the back of the net from close-range.

It came after Marc Roberts attempted a throw-in routine, finding Luca Connell on the edge of the box.

However Connell's pass was poor and it inadvertently started a Blackpool counter attack.

Both Ennis and Fletcher attempted strikes on goal but it was Carey whose effort was the closest.

Carey could have had four in the first half and missed his best chance on the stroke of half-time as he couldn't connect with a cross from the right.

The Reds started the second half well but it was Carey, who had warned the hosts in the first half, who opened the scoring.

He found space 20 yards out and unleashed an effort which Smith couldn't stop.

The away side then doubled their lead in the 64th minute as ex-Red Ashley Fletcher headed past Smith.

It was too easy for the striker whose muted celebrations were applauded by the Barnsley fans.

But those fans became even more frustrated with 17 minutes to go as Carey added a third.

It came after an Ennis strike was saved by Smith, only for Carey to tap home into an empty net.

The game fizzled out after that and in truth, only Blackpool ever looked like scoring again.

The defeat leaves the Reds 10th, eight points outside the play-offs with ten games to go.
