NINETY-THREE per cent of students at Penistone Grammar School secured their first-choice option having achieved excellent A Level results.
Out of those receiving their results yesterday, the majority will be heading off to their preferred university, with about 55 per cent of those securing places at top-third universities and 52 per cent going to Russell Group Universities.
Principal Paul Crook said: “Our students are amazing and have dedicated an enormous amount of time towards their studies.
“These results are a testament to their dedication, hard work and commitment.
“Our students are fantastic individuals, and we wish them every success in the future. I would also like to thank parents/carers for their support and also to all members of staff at Penistone Grammar.”
Some students received noteworthy grades like Ewan Mackie who had four A*s and will now head to Durham to study mathematics, Andrew Hughes who also earned four A*s and will now be heading to Oxford to study computer science and Charlie McNicholas who achieved the same grade and will be doing a sponsored degree at the University of Manchester, while working with PwC.
Amy Gray is preparing to go to Cambridge next month to study Law after achieving three A*s, and will be joined by Romy King who achieved the same grades and is set to study psychological and behavioural science at the prestigious university.
Other Oxbridge-bound students include Noveed Pejhan-Sykes and Lottie Dry.
Nick Stevens, assistant principal, added: “Our Post-16 Centre is a very special place, the environment, ethos and atmosphere ensures our young people can achieve amazing things.
“As a cohort, supported by their dedicated staff, and ever supportive parents and carers, they have embodied our core values and helped each other through the last two years of their education, aiming high in all they do.”
