STEPHANIE Peacock believes 'the people have spoken' after becoming the Barnsley South MP.

Ms Peacock, who received 16,399 votes - almost 5,000 more than Reform's David White, said she was pleased to have been re-elected.

She told the Chronicle: "I'm absolutely delighted.

"I'm humbled that the people of Barnsley have put their trust in me to represent them again.

"I think this is a rejection of 14 years of Conservative government.

"It was a very clear win.

"The only poll that matters is the final one.

"The people have spoken."
