A WOMAN who taught hundreds of kids celebrated her 100th birthday yesterday.
Fanny Bagshaw has spent her entire life in the Oxspring area - and still lives there to this day with her daughter, Jane.
The avid churchgoer, who taught at Oxspring Primary School for 23 years, hasn’t let age slow her down as she’s always up and about and fills her days with crosswords and knitting.
Her daughter, Christine Stamper, told the Chronicle: “I think she’s just accepting her age.
“She lives at home still - she needs a little help but she’s still mentally very active.
“She’s always doing a crossword or knitting something.”
Yesterday, they celebrated with an open house event, where friends and family were free to come and see her.
On top of this, her congregation at Crane Moor Methodist Church will be hosting a special service for her on Sunday.
Christine added: “The only secret to her long life is that she’s got lots of loved ones around her.”
