MAYOR of Barnsley Mick Stowe took a tour of SCC Air Compressors UK’s new national headquarters in Oxspring.
The German industrial manufacturer only began UK operations in 2018, and since 2020 have had a dedicated premises at Marrtree Business Park.
Last October they signed a lease for a new home at the business park, which has now been transformed into their UK head office with the help of Enterprising Barnsley.
Coun Robin Franklin, cabinet spokesperson for regeneration and culture, said: “It’s fantastic news that SCC Air Compressors have decided to have the head office for their UK operations in Barnsley.
“They add to the already diverse portfolio of businesses based in the borough and demonstrate that Barnsley is a place where any business can thrive.
“We’re proud that our award-winning Enterprising Barnsley team have played a part in developing this project for SCC and wish them all the very best for the future.”
Nigel Palmer, managing director for SCC Air Compressors UK, added: “The mayor’s visit was a very proud moment for SCC.
“It’s a huge highlight for us and we feel very honoured that the mayor took the time to come and visit us and see what we’re about.
“We’re extremely thankful for the assistance from the Enterprising Barnsley team and would not be where we are today without their superb support.
“Although we operate across the UK and Ireland from our base in Oxspring, we feel that we’re a local community business and we ensure we always suggest other local businesses when we have our partners here, be that local hotels, restaurants or suppliers.”
