BARNSLEY’S former police district commander has been named as the county’s deputy chief constable.
Sarah Poolman, who is currently the assistant chief constable, will bring her new role a wealth of knowledge, police bosses say.
Sarah joined South Yorkshire Police ten years ago from Thames Valley Police, becoming the DCI for public protection.
She was also the town’s district commander for a short period.
Sarah said: “I am hugely honoured to be appointed as Deputy Chief Constable for South Yorkshire Police. South Yorkshire has very much become my home over the last decade and the place I am proud to raise my two daughters.( “I remain committed to working hard for our communities and the most vulnerable in society.
“Together with the Chief Constable, I look forward to leading the force with a clear strategy and a problem-solving approach focused on long-term, sustainable solutions.”( Sarah succeeds Deputy Chief Constable Tim Forber, who has been confirmed as the new Chief Constable of North Yorkshire Police. She will begin her new role on April 1.
