LUCA Connell is on course to return to first team action next month, says Neill Collins.
The Barnsley midfielder has missed all of this season with illness but is stepping up his recovery in training and could play again next month – potentially being eased back in in a cup match such as the EFL Trophy game at Bradford City on November 14.
Collins told the Chronicle: “That’s very possible. These things could change at any moment depending on any niggles but, all being well, we will see him back on the pitch in November.”
Centre-back Kacper Lopata has missed the last three games with a shoulder injury.
Collins said: “He’s progressing really well. If it was up to Kacper he would be back training fully but, after a bad bone break, we have to give it due time. He is running and he just needs to tick a few more boxes before he’s back in the frame, which could take two or three more weeks.”
Defender Robbie Cundy has missed the whole season with issues with his hip and groin.
“Robbie is progressing but at a very slow rate. It’s a very tough situation. We’re working very hard to get a solution. We think we’re getting there but it’s a slow process.”
Youngsters Joe Ackroyd and Charlie Winfield are both back in full training after injury.
