BARNSLEY’S Underneath the Stars Festival has been postponed due to the coronavirus crisis.
The annual folk festival, which takes place at Cinderhill Farm in Cawthorne, was hoped to take place as planned from July 31 to August 2.
But organisers said with ‘heavy hearts’ that the event would be pushed back to next year.
“We take the health and safety of our wonderful guests, artists, staff, volunteers and community very seriously,” a statement said.
“Considering recent government announcements and all the uncertainty about when restrictions might be lifted, we believe this is the right thing to do.”
The announcement follows the postponement of Wentworth Music Festival and Barnsley Live, with the latter hoped to take place later in the year.
This year’s Underneath the Stars was set to feature Paul Carrack of Mike and the Mechanics and Squeeze, ‘Tom’s Diner’ songwriter Suzanne Vega and Kate Rusby, alongside crafts, workshops and food and drink stalls.
The new dates are July 30 to August 1, 2021.
