THE new vicar of Worsbrough has been given a warm welcome with a packed church for his welcoming service on Monday

Rev Adrian Bateman has taken over two churches St Luke’s at Worsbrough Common, and the church of St Thomas and St James, Worsbrough Dale.

A service of institution and induction was held on Monday evening.

“I don’t know the exact number but I would say there must have been about 200 people there,” said Fr Adrian.

“It was certainly a warm welcome.”

Fr Adrian has arrived from Armthorpe Parish Church in Doncaster where he had been curate. His arrival ends a year-long period of interregnum following the retirement of Rev Trevor Keightley. Fr Trevor left at the end of September last year, but died only eight months later in June.
