WORLD-CLASS young singers from Barnsley and Hungary came together last weekend to perform at Emmanuel Church.

Barnsley Youth Choir hosted the world-famous Aurin Choir from the revered Kodaly School in Kecskemet, Hungary, when 45 girls stayed with host families during the Barnsley part of a tour that featured workshops and performances throughout the UK and Germany.

During their visit they took part in rehearsals with about 220 Barnsley Youth Choir youngsters and took part in three well-attended concerts at Emmanuel Church which were enthusiastically supported by the Barnsley public.

“This was an incredibly successful weekend and it was wonderful to watch two world-class choirs work together with such passion and energy and perform a number of stunning joint pieces,” said Barnsley Youth Choir musical director Mat Wright.
