WORK to create a railway line from Elsecar to Cortonwood is on track.

The Elsecar Heritage Railway’s plan to create a line from the Heritage Centre to Cortonwood has seen significant progress in recent weeks.

Barnsley East MP Michael Dugher visited junior soldiers from Harrogate’s Army Foundation College last weekend, who stepped in to help with part of the line extension from Tingle Bridge Lane to Smithy Bridge Lane.

And work at the Tingle Bridge Lane, Hemingfield crossing itself is seeing some significant advancements with its sight lines.

Work at the Coal Mining Memorial Park, adjacent to Morrison’s Cortonwood car park, has stop until the line reaches the future station.
