RESIDENTS at Fitzwilliam Court finally got a restaurant again and are hoping to get more people through the doors to keep it open.
Fitzwilliam Court, an extra-care housing development for the over 55s’ on Bethel Street, Hoyland, has had three different providers running its restaurant over five years. The eateries kept closing because of lack of uptake - passers-by aren’t aware the restaurant is open to the public, as well as residents.
The Friendship Cafe opened in December, and residents are hoping their advertising drive will raise more interest.
Eleanor said: “It’s running costs I suppose. It has to pay and people aren’t aware that the public can come in for something to eat.”
