HIGH Street butchers in Hoyland has given the chop to Monday openings - because it is desperate for more help in the butchery department.
Customers were surprised to find the blinds down last week when the Monday shutdowns began but the reason is a staff shortage.
Shop owner David Laban said: "There is still plenty of demand from customers so we do need another pair of hands."
The shop has a total of five staff - including the one butcher Andrew - and Jane and David at the helm.
David added: "We need someone pretty soon or we will just have to stay closed on Mondays, which tends to be a slower day."
David and Jane took over the shop in September 2012 from Chris Guest whose family ran the business for five generations.
