ONE teenager has been making a name for himself as a successful bodybuilder - following in the footsteps of his award-winning father and grandfather.
At only 16 years old Ethan Weiss has already won an award at a body building competition.
He follows on from his 36-year-old dad Kyle, who has been training to become a bodybuilder since he was a teenager.
But the family tradition began with Ethan’s granddad Terry, who picked up the sport in the 1980s after finding a weightlifting gym and soon became hooked.
In 1985 he placed third in his first competition and since then the accolades haven’t stopped coming.
It seems the family have a knack for the sport, as only last year Kyle picked up the Mr Europe trophy in Italy taking after his dad.
Now though it’s Ethan who’s stepping into the limelight, having recently won the IBFA show in Teesside.
The youngster from Royston has become obsessed with the sport and is ready to continue competing over the next year.
“He’s doing really good with it all at the minute,” Kyle told the Chronicle.
“Obviously he won at Teesside recently and now he’s making plans for the rest of this year and hoping to compete in Europe.
“He’s just on a little bit of a break right now.”
Alongside all of his other competitions, Ethan has been nominated for the Young Sportsperson category at this year’s Young Champions awards.
“It’ll be really cool if he gets that,” Kyle added.
“He loves training and bulking up - he just enjoys the sport really.”
