Darrell Clarke praised his goal-scorers from Saturday, as well as the collective team effort, as Barnsley secured a 3-1 win at Port Vale in the FA Cup.
Centre-back Marc Roberts opened the scoring with a header in the 17th minute, capping his 100th game for the club with his fourth goal of the season.
Head coach Clarke told the Chronicle: “I am loving his leadership skills at the minute. His performances have been excellent for a period of time and he’s always a threat from set pieces.”
The second goal came from Davis Keillor-Dunn, who made it three in four games by finishing off an impressive team move. Clarke said: “It’s pleasing. We’re working hard as a team and opportunities are coming to our centre forward players. We could have taken some more.”
Adam Phillips returned from injury as a substitute and scored the third goal with a penalty. It was a sixth of the season for the top-scorer.
Clarke said: “It’s very good to have someone like Phillo coming off the bench. He stroked the penalty away confidently and he’s a very confident player so it’s good to have him back in amongst it.”
