BARNSLEY midfielder Adam Phillips has been nominated for the League One Player of the Month award.

The Reds midfielder scored three goals in August and registered one assist in four games.

He scored a brace in a 3-0 win away at Crawley and his performances have left him joint-top of the League One top scorers list.

Barnsley FC head coach, Darrell Clarke, praised Phillips for his consistency and influence on the pitch.

“Phillo has got off to a great start this season and he will be getting his head down and looking to have a strong rest of the campaign.

“He’ll definitely have (more) opportunities to score goals.”

Stockport’s Louie Barry, Charlton’s Lloyd Jones and Alfie May of Birmingham are Phillips’ competition.
