A BARNSLEY couple are set to appear on a new ITV show this weekend.

Hoyland man 25-year-old Tom James will appear on ITV2’s new show, Bad Boyfriends, with his girlfriend 23-year-old Carly Acton on Sunday.

Hosted by former Love Island star Olivia Attwood, the show will see eight unsuspecting boyfriends flown to a Greek island under the premise of filming a series about manhood and bromance.

But Olivia gives them the shock of their lives when she announces their wild partying days are on hold and to reveal the true purpose of the show - to whip them into better boyfriend shape.

All at the behest of their long-suffering girlfriends whose surprise, dramatic arrivals cause mayhem.

Across 11 episodes, the boys will compete in a series of challenges, designed to rectify their ways.

There will be eliminations across the series as the least-improved boyfriends deemed incapable of improving are voted out, resulting in one boy being crowned the most-improved.

Tom, a bricklayer, admits that communication is not his forte in relationships, but his experience on the show has taught him to open up more.

He said: “I think I’m much better coming off the show.

“I talk more about my own feelings, how I am in general.

“I was more closed off emotionally before going on the show.”

Carly added: “I felt like we were just a little bit stagnant and needed to push past our boundaries.

“It was the perfect opportunity to do that.

“I said to Tom before we did if he’d ever consider therapy and then this popped up.”
