Victor Edvardsen has pulled out of his move to Barnsley after a ‘change of mind’ through ‘personal circumstances’.

The Sweden striker was in Barnsley for a medical yesterday with a loan move from Go Ahead Eagles, with a view to a permanent deal, expected to be confirmed before tomorrow’s deadline.

But he informed the club this morning he would not be joining them.

Reds head coach Darrell Clarke told the Chronicle: “It’s disappointing. The news came in this morning. He’s had a change of mind through personal circumstances. Once I get my head round it, the fact of the matter is I want players who want to be at the football club. I would rather find that out before he signs than after. It’s disappointing for all involved but I am sure our fans will agree we will want players who are committed 100 per cent.

"We move on quickly and we have 48 hours to get the right players in.”
