Callum Simpson has become British and Commonwealth boxing champion on a historic night at a buzzing Oakwell.
The hometown fighter beat previous champion Zak Chelli on points by unanimous decision in the super-middleweight clash.
It was the first fight at Oakwell since the 1940s, with the 7,000 supporters in the East Stand making a massive noise – mainly in support of the hometown hero.
The Barnsley FC first team squad and staff were all in attendance on the front row.
Simpson began well and rocked Chelli with a big right hand in the first round which he dominated.
The fight then became closer but Simpson generally remained the aggressor throughout, winning the majority of the rounds.
He celebrated by jumping on the ring ropes at the end and the judges confirmed he was the winner. It was his 15th win from as many fights as a professional.
