Brampton boxer Dempsey Wale extended his winning record to eleven as he saw off tough Mexican Ramiro Garcia Lopez on Friday night.
Wale had been on the sidelines for 11 months after sustaining a shoulder injury sparring.
He described the lay-off as 'hellish' but shook off some rust against Lopez at the Metrodome.
Referee John Latham handed Wale the victory with a 40-36 decision.
Wale kept shape and composure well over the four rounds and worked well off a jab.
The unbeaten light-welterweight will return to action at the same venue on August 31.
There were four other contests on the Outlaw Promotions event on Friday with two ending in first round stoppages.
One of them was claimed by Doncaster's Connan Murray who had too much for Rotherham's Martin Shaw and forced referee Michael Alexander to step in.
The most impressive win came from Bradford's Mohammed Subhaan who wiped out Stefan Vincent in just 29 seconds.
Also scoring points wins were Paul Clewes, over Mexican Edgar Romero, and Joe Hayden who won every round against Paul Scaife.
