BARNSLEY Central MP Dan Jarvis has said ‘Plan B’ is ‘all too conveniently timed’ after allegations of Christmas parties at Downing Street last year.
Stricter coronavirus restrictions such as the introduction of Covid passes and working from home have been implemented by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, following his press conference on Wednesday.
Dan, who is also the South Yorkshire Mayor, told the Chronicle: “This would appear to be an all too conveniently timed attempt to distract from the disgraceful revelations about Christmas parties in Downing Street last December, and other pressures the government are facing.
“The timing of this announcement will fundamentally undermine confidence in the public health messaging and put people’s lives at risk.”
Dan admits ‘the science’ has to be followed in this case and working from home and mandatory face coverings are ‘sensible’.
