WESTVILLE FC was celebrating this week after taking home the Rotherham Charity Cup for the second year in a row.
The team faced fellow West Melton side Queens United in the final on Wednesday evening at Rotherham’s New York Stadium.
The ‘Ville’s Nicky Harper scored a 25 yard free kick early on in the game before Queens’ Marcus Clare equalised with just four minutes to go.
The Westville’s Kieran Hirst scored the winning kick for them in the last minutes of the game, which finished with Westville 2-1 Queens.
Westville manager Stuart Harper said: “We are absolutely delighted to follow on from last season. There have been previous winners who have held it two or three times, but we have only just entered it.
“It is a great achievement and I have no idea how we are going to sustain it, but the lads showed a lot of character.
“Full credit too to Queens, who dug deep and put themselves back in the game.”
