WEDNESDAY evening at the Friends Meeting House, Huddersfield Road, and the excitement is growing.
For the members of the Barnsley Philatelic Society - those dedicated few - stamps are sexy.
Club secretary and president Nigel Harpham's specialises in American stamps. He caught the stamp collecting bug after becoming aware of a series depicting the NASA space programme circa 1960s.
"It's like any hobby really," says Nigel of Queens Road, Pogmoor, who at 58 is the society's youngest member.
"A series of stamps may lead you to investigate what the series is all about. It's very interesting and a great way of learning."
New members and visitors will be warmly welcomed.
