A round-up of Barnsley FC stories coming out of the weekend.

HOURIHANE TO USE SATURDAY AS MOTIVATION

Conor Hourihane will use the experience of being booed in a nearly empty Oakwell as he led his team on a lap around the stadium on Saturday as motivation as he begins his rebuilding job.

The Reds lost their final home game of the season to relegated Shrewsbury, leaving them with a record of six wins at Oakwell all campaign.

Hourihane told the Chronicle: “We can use it as motivation. I will be.

“I don’t blame the fans for giving it out to me and the lads. I am not surprised.

“They have had a tough season, and a tough time under me.

“I am hoping over time, it can be fixed, turned and changed.”
