Some Barnsley FC related stories coming out of the weekend.

UNDER 15 FROM REDS ACADEMY ON TRIAL AT CHELSEA

AN UNDER 15 from the Barnsley FC academy is on trial with Premier League giants Chelsea with a view to a permanent move, the Chronicle understands.

Striker Kishan Dass, who is from Leeds and has been with the Reds for three seasons, is understood to have been training with the London club while several other Premier League outfits are interested.

There are also thought to be top flight clubs interested in three other academy players, with verbal offers being rejected.

CONOR BACKS MAEL TO GET THROUGH ‘BAD MOMENT’

Conor Hourihane is convinced Mael de Gevigney will soon get through the ‘bad moment’ he is currently in which worsened with a red card on Saturday.

The French defender, who had made mistakes for goals in the previous two games, was sent off in the third minute of the 6-2 loss at Birmingham.

He will now be suspended for Saturday’s game at home to Bolton.

Interim boss Hourihane told the Chronicle: “He’s obviously going to be out. He needs to back himself in terms of what got him to this stage.

“A few games ago we were saying how reliable and robust he’s been for this club and he had started X amount of games in a row.

“It’s a bit of bad moment but I have no doubt he will come through it.”

SIXTH-PLACED BOLTON UP NEXT AT OAKWELL

Barnsley’s top six chances could mathematically end when they host Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

The Reds have been realistically out of the promotion race for weeks and are six places and 12 points behind sixth-placed Bolton with five games left.

The Trotters host Rotherham on Tuesday before visiting Oakwell and wins in both would mean Barnsley cannot finish in the top six.

Bolton - revived after Steven Schumacher replaced Ian Evatt in January - are in a tight race for sixth with Reading and Huddersfield just behind them.

Barnsley won 2-1 at Bolton on Boxing Day thanks to two late goals, but have not beaten them in a league match at Oakwell since 1997.

LOANEE DALLAS SCORES

Barnsley loanee Andy Dallas netted for Morecambe in a 3-1 loss to Grimsby in League Two.

The striker had not scored in nine games since bagging a brace on his debut in February.

The Shrimps look likely to be relegated into non-league football as they are six points from safety with five games left.

Meanwhile, Jack Shepherd came off the bench for Bradford who went top with a 2-0 win over Crewe.

In League One, Kyran Lofthouse started for Burton in their 3-0 loss at Exeter while Sam Cosgrove came off Stockport’s bench in their 2-0 win at Exeter.

In Scotland, Kacper Lopata played all of Ross County’s 1-0 top flight home loss to Aberdeen while, in the second tier, Aiden Marsh was an unused substitute in Raith Rovers’ win over Ayr United.

U18S WIN AT CHARLTON

Barnsley under 18s won 1-0 at Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

The only goal was an own goal.

They are now due to visit Sheffield United on Wednesday then host Millwall from 2pm on Friday.

Barnsley under 21s drew 1-1 at home to Watford on Friday.

Emmaisa Nzondo equalised.

They are now set to visit Cardiff City on Tuesday of next week then Sheffield Wednesday on Good Friday.
