A LOCAL MP welcomed children from a Barnsley primary school to Westminster last week.
Marie Tidball, MP for Penistone and Stocksbridge, invited children from Thurlstone Primary School and gave them a tour around Parliament.
She is encouraging any other schools who would like a similar visit to get in touch.
She said: “I grew up near this beautiful village and loved welcoming pupils from Thurlstone Primary School to Westminster.
“Thank you to the Palace of Westminster staff for making them feel so welcome.
“They asked me tough questions about my work as an MP, and some of the issues facing our constituency.
“Visiting Parliament is a brilliant opportunity for young people to learn about our democracy and civic engagement.
“If you’re a school in our constituency, you can also arrange to come down to Parliament for a day.
“I have written to every school and can help arrange for travel cost support.
“Email me at marie.tidball.mp@parliament.uk if this is something you’re interested in.”
