A GRANDAD who was jailed for his role in the Manvers riots in August has died in prison.

Peter Lynch, 61, of Burman Road in Wath-upon-Dearne, was jailed for two years and eight months on August 22 following his guilty plea to violent disorder.

He was seen at the protest at the Holiday Inn on August 4 with a sign stating who he believed to be corrupt.

Lynch was also seen shouting racist and provocative remarks towards police officers on the day, labelling asylum seekers in the hotel as ‘child killers’.

A spokesperson for the Prison Service said that Lynch, who had been at HMP Moorland in Doncaster, died on Saturday.

They added: “As with all deaths in custody, the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman will investigate.”
