A LOCAL MP has shown his support for new clean energy options being provided to Berneslai Homes-run properties.
Dan Jarvis, MP for Barnsley North, visited Mount Avenue in Grimethorpe last Friday to see the installation of new solar panels on the street - the first step of a project to retrofit 1,000 properties.
The installation is part of Energise Barnsley’s mission to increase energy sustainability, reduce carbon emissions and invest back into the community.
Dan said: “It was great to be in Grimethorpe to see the incredible work being done by Energise Barnsley to retrofit residents’ homes with solar panels ensuring that our town’s properties are fit for the future.
“Even on days when the sun isn’t shining, these new solar panels will have incredible benefits and make a real difference to residents’ lives.
“Renewable energy is cheaper than fossil fuels to produce, and installations like this can only help with our national mission to bring down bills for good and bolster our energy security.”
Project manager and director, Beth Wynton, added: “It was great to meet Dan and show him the progress of our project.
“We’re passionate about creating a strong community, and we really appreciate having the support and enthusiasm of a local MP.”
